Updates Suck, Update-Haters Are Dumb

STOP MAINTAINING SOFTWARE • YEARS OF SEMANTIC VERSIONING and yet NO REAL-WORLD USE FOUND for signing her v1.0 • Wanted more features anyway, for a laugh? We had a tool for that: It was called "PLUGINS" • "Yes please update to version 37.0.0.69.march2023.january or above. Please backport security patches to the LTS release" - Statements dreamed up by the utterly deranged LOOK at what Software Engineers have been demanding your Respect for all this time, with all the wild systems and dependencies we built for them. (This is REAL Software, made by REAL Developers) "Hello I would like to install updates please" They have played us for absolute fools ????? ????? ????? "dependency management is hard vulnerability management is hard patch management is hard supply chain security is hard repo maintainers are underappreciated architecting robust software is hard avoiding scope/feature creep is hard naming things is hard" WOW!! updates suck WOW!! update-haters are dumb

EN: On the left is a sarcastic post about developers complaining that maintaining software is difficult, while the center and right show a Pac-Man-like character saying “updates suck” and “update-haters are dumb.” The joke mocks the contradiction of demanding updates while also complaining about them, even though dependency, vulnerability, and supply-chain management really are difficult. The meme is used as a reaction to complaints about updates, releases, and software maintenance.
