Pulp Fiction 1994 They don't say the title. Midsommar 2019 They said the title. "I'm doing my research on European MIDSOMMAR traditions, these guys are just tagging along." There Will Be Blood 2007 They don't say the title. Gladiator II 2024 They partially said the title. "I was once a GLADIATOR, myself." Could have very easily been, "I was once a GLADIATOR, TOO."
A Letterboxd review screenshot compares films based on whether their dialogue literally says the movie title. The joke highlights increasingly strained interpretations, especially the reviewer treating a character’s mention of being a gladiator as only a partial title drop in Gladiator II.
