Mario Character Roster Equivalents

the way they ordered this roster implies these are the equivalents of each character 1. Main character 2. Sidekick 3. Girl 4. Character introduced in a sequel to keep things interesting 5. Another girl 6. Evil doppelganger 7. "Going to the well one too many times" doppelganger 8. Antagonist 9. Antagonist's son 10. We just needed a tenth character, so this guy will do #video games #super mario bros. #sonic the hedgehog

The image compares a roster of Super Mario characters with a numbered list of character roles, ending with an arbitrary tenth character added just to fill the slot. The joke is that the character order seems to assign exaggerated or reductive equivalents to characters across the Mario and Sonic franchises. It is used as a humorous reaction to bizarre character rankings or forced comparisons.
