News Conference Paper Shuffle

OFFICIALS: CHARLIE KIRK SHOOTER IN CUSTODY NBC NEWS SPECIAL REPORT

What it means

Officials stand at a press conference while the bald speaker looks down, talks into the microphone, and finally picks up a sheet of paper. The serious breaking-news banner makes the small, awkward paper shuffle feel like an oddly anticlimactic reaction clip. It can be sent as a reaction to sudden awkwardness, confusion, or someone losing their place.
