Replication Crisis Solved
IN THE EARLY 2010s, RESEARCHERS FOUND THAT MANY MAJOR SCIENTIFIC RESULTS COULDN’T BE REPRODUCED. OVER A DECADE INTO THE REPLICATION CRISIS, WE WANTED TO SEE IF TODAY’S STUDIES HAVE BECOME MORE ROBUST. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR REPLICATION ANALYSIS HAS FOUND EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT THOSE 2010s RESEARCHERS DID. NEULSER REPLICATION CRISIS SOLVED
A four-panel black-and-white comic shows three stick-figure researchers discussing the scientific replication crisis. Their analysis finds exactly the same problems as the studies from the early 2010s, and the final newspaper headline ironically announces “REPLICATION CRISIS SOLVED.” The joke is that the crisis is supposedly solved only because researchers successfully replicated the original failure, making it a reaction to ironic success and scientific absurdity.
