2004 File Chooser Thumbnail Feature
1280434576336.png 2004-04-26 16:10:19 UTC Bug 141154 - Add an "icon view with thumbnails" mode (like Nautilus) Hakon [reporter] 2004-04-26 16:10:19 UTC Description The file-chooser should be able to share the "icon view" feature used in Nautilus, so that you can choose between list view and icon view (with thumbnails) I believe the Windows file selector already does this. Now how to do this I have no clue about, because I am not a developer. I guess either Nautilus should allow user applications to share this function (which could also be useful to file-roller e.g.), or it should be lifted out from Nautilus, making it a gtk widget or something?
A 2004 bug report asks for a file chooser with an icon view and thumbnails, while the file picker above visibly shows a thumbnail of Pepe the Frog. The joke is that the requested feature is demonstrated right there, making the old software request look unintentionally self-answering. It is shared as a nostalgic or sarcastic reaction to outdated software and feature requests.
