Jewish Coworkers Took the Day Off

Text on the meme

*You’re wondering why your jewish co-workers took the day off

What it means

The clip shows Robert Pattinson’s character standing in an elevator before the camera pulls away to reveal two tall buildings by the water, ending on black. The caption makes a dark 9/11 reference, implying the Jewish coworkers took the day off because they supposedly knew about the attack; the mournful Billie Eilish song “BIRDS OF A FEATHER (Mixed)” adds an eerie, dramatic contrast that heightens the shock of the punchline. It is a dark reaction meme used for deliberately offensive or taboo humor.
