The video presents a rapid-fire visual history of Linux under the heading “linux lore”: server statistics, old Unix/Linux commands, penguins, the classic S logo, Ubuntu animal codenames, a boxed Linux distribution, Manjaro, and BitKeeper. The joke is that Linux lore is an overwhelming mix of obscure commands, distributions, mascots, naming traditions, and controversial history, ending with a knowingly dramatic slideshow. The montage is accompanied by Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” (feat. Kimbra) [Remix] [Mixed], whose melancholic remix mood makes the technical nostalgia feel comically emotional and overblown.
