Text on the meme

THE Netflix @netflix X.com CINEMA Today, Netflix announced our acquisition of Warner Bros. Together, we’ll define the next century of storytelling, creating an extraordinary entertainment offering for audiences everywhere. about.netflix.com/en/news/netfli... WARNER BROS. PICTURES SINGIN' A WARNER COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY

What it means

A fake Netflix announcement claims that Netflix has acquired Warner Bros., then cuts through a montage of Warner Bros. film scenes: costumed performers, a chaotic staircase scene, Batman amid a burning city, and ominous dark figures. Set to Don McLean’s folk-rock song “American Pie,” the montage turns the studio’s entire film library into an absurd singalong, implying that every Warner movie is suddenly part of one melodramatic musical takeover. It works as a reaction to corporate mergers, especially when a beloved movie studio appears to be swallowed by a streaming giant.
