Text on the meme

just bought another batch of ps2s. we can’t let nintendo win Nintendo Switch shipped 980k units this quarter, down from 2.1 million units last year (-53%). That’s over 153.1 million consoles to date. Nintendo DS lifetime sales are less than 1m units away.

What it means

A social media post shows a huge collection of PlayStation 2 console boxes alongside a reply about Nintendo Switch and DS sales. The joke is that someone is buying more than twenty-year-old PS2 consoles to prevent Nintendo from winning the console sales race. It is used as an absurd reaction to Nintendo’s strong sales or a playful display of exaggerated brand loyalty.
