Text on the meme

i thought this was a costume party

What it means

A woman in elaborate fantasy makeup, pointed elf ears, and a black leather outfit takes a selfie while people gather around a screen in the background. The joke is that she arrived fully dressed for a costume party, but the event appears to be an ordinary gathering, making her look comically overdressed.
