Parents Let Kids Roam Free
Did parents in the 70s/80s/90s really allow their kids to roam freely, or is that just a portrayal seen in movies an underreported reason people are having fewer and fewer kids: now we’re expected to watch them 24/7. at least in the summer my mom got 10+ hours a day free from me while I crawled around in ditches
A screenshot of a social media post asking whether children in past decades really wandered around unsupervised as often as movies suggest. The reply jokes that modern parents have fewer children because they are expected to supervise them constantly, unlike the commenter’s mother, who had most of the day free while her child crawled around in ditches. It is used as a sarcastic reaction to debates about parenting, childhood freedom, and declining birth rates.
