You’re Either in the Pot or Holding It
tonight I had the privilege of hearing a 13 year old explain the terms “cooking” and “cooked” to my 45 year old manager and she said something so excellent I have to document it. “cooked is bad. cooking is good. you’re either in the pot or you’re holding it.”
A dark-mode social media post recounts a 13-year-old explaining the slang terms “cooking” and “cooked” to a 45-year-old manager. The punchline turns the slang into a literal cooking metaphor: someone is either being cooked and losing, or holding the pot and succeeding. It is sent as an absurd, witty reaction to situations involving competence, failure, or control.
