Favorite Niche Anime Goes Mainstream

Text on the meme

"And then, just like that, his favorite niche anime became popular with mainstream audience"

What it means

A tiny, sad-looking kitten sits on a patterned blanket while the caption laments that someone’s favorite niche anime has suddenly become popular with the mainstream audience. The joke is about losing the feeling of exclusivity when an obscure interest becomes widely popular, and the image is used as a mock-sad reaction to gatekeeping or unexpected mainstream success.
