Life Before Corporate Minimalism

Text on the meme

life before corporate minimalism

What it means

A nostalgic slideshow moves through older, more colorful McDonald’s, mobile-phone, PlayStation, GameStop, Xbox 360/Wii, ICEE, and Mountain Dew displays, all captioned “life before corporate minimalism.” The joke contrasts the cluttered, playful maximalism of older retail and restaurant branding with today’s simplified corporate design; the wistful music “I wish that youd talk to” by Lieka makes the montage feel ironically sentimental.
