This Is Insane, It’s Over
THIS IS INSANE ITS OVER
A rapid, surreal montage shows a woman and boy walking through a house, close-ups of their serious faces, celebrity posters, the boy changing clothes, a masked photo, and finally a person lying inside a glowing futuristic chamber. The repeated captions “THIS IS INSANE” and “ITS OVER,” paired with Mitski’s melancholic song “Washing Machine Heart,” turn the dramatic footage into an absurd reaction meme about a situation becoming overwhelming and hopelessly finished.
