Newcomers To Canada Confused By Escalator

What it means

A split-screen video shows a calico cat calmly riding up an escalator while newcomers to Canada hesitantly approach and struggle with the same escalator. The joke compares the cat’s effortless confidence with the people’s confusion, made even funnier by the jaunty instrumental music “Spanish Flea” by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass. It works as a reaction to someone being unexpectedly outperformed by an animal or feeling lost in an unfamiliar situation.
