Rheinmetall Turns Volkswagen Plants Into Tanks
November 1939 JUST IN: 🇩🇪 German defense giant Rheinmetall says it could take over idle Volkswagen plants and use them to produce tanks
A cartoon man flips through a calendar from November 1939 toward the present while reading a news post about Rheinmetall potentially using idle Volkswagen factories to build tanks. The joke compares modern German rearmament and industrial mobilization to the buildup before World War II, making the reaction deliberately alarming and darkly ironic.
