Geodude Iwate Mascot
The Pokemon Geodude has become a mascot for Iwate Prefecture, Japan (because Iwate means “rock hands” in Japanese, and Geodude is a rock with hands.)
A Geodude mascot costume stands outside in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, wearing checkered pants and posing with its arms raised and extended. The joke is the wordplay between Iwate meaning “rock hands” in Japanese and Geodude being a rock Pokémon with hands, making it a fitting regional mascot.
