Drafted While Watching TV
DRAFTED
A black-and-white video cuts from chaotic, blurry action to two people sitting together and watching television, then freezes on the word “DRAFTED.” The punchline presents an ordinary TV-watching moment as if the people have suddenly been selected for military service; The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black,” a dark psychedelic rock song, intensifies the dramatic absurdity. It works as a reaction to unexpectedly being chosen, assigned, or forced into something.
