The Apostrophe Cat
old english writers: alas! how could we possibly mark a word that is shortened? the apostrophe:
A black-and-white cat appears to have only one extremely elongated front leg, standing on a dark floor. The joke compares an apostrophe marking shortened words with the cat’s comically shortened-looking body, presenting the punctuation mark as an absurd visual answer.
