One Minute Into the New Year
Tuesday, December 31 11:59 Wednesday, January 1 12:00 Wednesday, January 1 12:01
A three-panel anime screenshot shows the clock changing from 11:59 PM on December 31 to midnight on January 1, then immediately to 12:01 AM. The joke is that the excitement of New Year’s Eve lasts only one minute before the new year already feels ordinary. It is commonly sent as a reaction to the anticlimax of New Year celebrations.
