POV: You start to hallucinate
A pile of clothes draped over a laundry rack looks like a giant human-shaped figure standing in a room. The joke is that exhaustion or altered perception makes ordinary laundry seem like a person, so the image is used as a surreal reaction to hallucinating or seeing things that are not there.
