What it means

A comparison collage shows video game releases from 2004 above and their anticipated or modern counterparts below, including Fable, Doom, Metroid, Metal Gear Solid, Monster Hunter, and Grand Theft Auto. The joke is that many major 2025 games are remakes, sequels, or revivals of franchises from the mid-2000s, suggesting the games industry keeps recycling the past. It is shared as a reaction to nostalgia, franchise fatigue, or the lack of truly new blockbuster ideas.
