Gender Identity Plot Twist
2020 She/Her Straight 2021 She/Them Bisexual 2022 They/Them Lesbian 2023 Punished/Venom Snake
An animated slideshow shows the same anime-style girl changing labels and appearance each year: in 2020 she is straight, in 2021 bisexual, and in 2022 lesbian. The punchline abruptly cuts in 2023 to Punished Venom Snake from Metal Gear Solid, turning a yearly identity-transition joke into an absurd gaming reference. Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” (Bibio Remix) plays underneath, giving the escalating transformation a wistful, dramatic mood that makes the final reveal funnier.
