Death Does Not Concern Us

Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here. And when it does come, we no longer exist -Epicurus

A small blue toy robot sits beneath a metallic fixture as the footage gradually darkens and fades to black. The solemn music and Epicurus’s philosophical quote turn the ordinary toy scene into an absurdly dramatic meditation on mortality, making it suitable as a reaction to inevitable endings or exaggerated existential despair. The clip uses Yugo Kanno’s “Chinkouka,” a melancholic orchestral soundtrack, to intensify the joke.
