Router Always Wins
AS THE ROUTER Router IT ASKED THE PACKET: OR IS YOUR PROTOCOL 6 BECAUSE YOU ARE T FOR UNBEKNOWNST IN THAT MOMENT ALWAYS Router ZERO
A blue router diagram and networking schematics illustrate a narrated exchange between a router and an IPv4 packet. The packet thinks it is safe, but the router knows its time to live has reached zero, turning networking terminology into an absurd, dramatic joke about inevitable routing failure.
The router opened its routing information protocol and started routing the IPv4 packet. It asked the packet, Are you TCP because your protocol is 6? Or is your protocol 6 because you are TCP? The packet simply replied, Nah, I'd live. For unbeknownst to the router, the packet was not unicast and has an anycast destination address. In that moment, the packet thought it would truly be routed, But it didn't know two key things. One, always bet on the router. Two, the router knew that the packet's time to live had reached zero.
