Sabot Ammunition Test Montage
SABOT
A fast-paced montage shows ammunition components, a sabot round being assembled, a mannequin wearing improvised armor, and a person firing a rifle at a target outdoors. The clip then cuts through close-ups of damaged or fragmented objects before returning to the round. Heavy music and artillery-like gunfire make the improvised experiment feel dramatically overpowered and absurd.
This could be one of the nastiest 12 gauge experimental shotgun rounds we've ever tested. It consists of three high power, nail gun blanks loaded into a save-o. The primers face forward so they detonate on impact on almost any surface. This next test on ballistic gel will give you a better understanding of how this works. The impact on the gel was more than sufficient to detonate the three blanks. Penetration of the slug was outstanding at around 13 inches. We'll now examine one of the recovered blanks. We can see that much of the energy expanded outwards. The slug originally looked like this and after impact looks like this. This exposes six rows of razor sharp teeth from the steel laminations. This is indeed a mortician's nightmare. Research continues.
