What it means

A vertical video compares dramatic ape footage from the latest 'Planet of the Apes' movie with hockey players in blue uniforms reenacting the apes’ movements and expressions. The joke is that the players look so similar and act so naturally that commenters pretend they are the real motion-capture performers, making CGI unnecessary. Daft Punk and Panda Bear’s upbeat electronic song “Doin' it Right” gives the absurd comparison a playful, rhythmic mood and makes the reactions feel even more comedic.
