Joker Relatability Contrast

I FUCKING HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIE “An atypical guy trying to do the right thing is constantly getting shit on then breaks, hey that’s actually a little relatable!” PHOENIX JOKER JOAQUIN PHOENIX JOKER OCTOBER 4

A rage-comic character angrily says he hates the Joker and hopes he dies, while another character finds the Joker’s story relatable because a man trying to do the right thing is constantly mistreated until he breaks. The joke contrasts intense hatred of the Joker with a sympathetic interpretation of his downfall, referencing the 2019 film Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix.
