The Novatas Copyright Scam
I once saved a mother with an unborn child from a burning building. She was so grateful for my help that she agreed to name her child after me. I said "name her Novatas" which was the name of my first company. She did. 21 years later, the daughter became a very successful travel influencer, with a large following, and got in contact to thank me for saving her life. I sued her for copyright infringement. I had trademarked the name Novatas way back when before her birth and she had been using it for her branding. Legally I was entitled to a lot of her revenue because her mother was silly enough to fall for this trick. You enter the game as soon as you're born and you can't miss a day playing it.
A fictional narrator claims he saved a pregnant mother, tricked her into naming her daughter after his company, and later sued the daughter for using that name as a travel influencer brand. The joke is an absurdly cynical exploitation of a child’s name and a parody of aggressive trademark and copyright litigation. It is shared as a reaction to shameless opportunism and treating every human interaction like a business scheme.
