Deadpool Writing Epiphany Reddit Post
“Aha-Moment” During Deadpool While watching Deadpool 3 (Deadpool & Wolverine), I realized that the action scene at the start of the movie is a classic writing trick where you start with action to both pull in the audience and to “make a promise”, or “signpost”, that “hey, it’ll be worth it to sit through some of this slower, introductory character building because you’re going to eventually get stuff like this cool fun action scene. So please be patient!” I just felt really proud of myself for being able to make a connection between my everyday life (just seeing a movie with some friends and a bad date) and the writing stuff I have been studying. Didn’t really know where to share this - a perfect Reddit opportunity. I look forward to discovering more “writing tropes”
A Reddit post from a writing community describes a viewer’s realization that Deadpool 3 opens with an action scene as a storytelling promise, encouraging the audience to stay through slower character-building scenes. The writer humorously connects this insight to an ordinary movie outing with friends and a bad date, then celebrates finding the perfect place to share the thought.
