Boys With a Time Machine
BOYS WITH A TIME MACHINE
A low-resolution animated view of New York City shows an aircraft flying past skyscrapers before the scene loops back and the buildings suddenly erupt in a massive explosion. The caption jokes that “boys with a time machine” would travel back to the September 11 attacks, while Alicia Keys’s emotional pop/R&B song “Empire State of Mind, Pt. 2” creates an ironic contrast with the catastrophic imagery. It is used as a dark, offensive reaction meme about reckless time travel and historical disaster.
