Lovecraft Loves England

Text on the meme

HP Lovecraft was like, "ooh I'm so scared of a mysterious vile island that rises out of the sea, is inhabited by fishlike, pallid-fleshed pseudohumans, follows a strange and horrible religion, and has an incomprehensible, inhuman tongue...but I love England."

What it means

The meme quotes H. P. Lovecraft describing a terrifying island inhabited by fishlike pseudohumans, clearly evoking his horror fiction, before abruptly saying that he loves England. The joke mocks the contrast between his fear of fictional monstrous places and his affection for England, implying that the description could also fit a grotesque fantasy version of Britain.
