19 Angry Man-Shaped AI Horrors - or, how Amazon continues to find new ways to suck. So, there's been a picture trending on Twitter, of an Amazon Prime copy of the classic 12 Angry Men that's got some sloppy ass AI art. Everyone's having a good laugh at it, but it's just the most visible sign of an exciting new way that Amazon sucks. You see, Amazon has this service - Prime Video Direct - that lets anyone upload films to Amazon Prime Video - and they get paid when people watch those films. So, internet bottom feeders have been infesting the Prime servers with shitty rips of old movies, sometimes plastering their own copyrights in the titles after doing a shitty AI-colorization. (Search up Scarlet Street for an example - I SEE YOU LEWIS SHOENBRUN, YOU HACK!) Since these dogwater VHS rips are free, the algorithm puts them above legitimate HD restorations that charge to watch. Amazon gets more 'movies' and engagement for Prime Video, and the bottomfeeders get some easy money. Everyone wins - except people who care about film quality.
