Men's Mental Health Month

Today is Men’s Mental Health Month. Just to remind you, You do matter. You do have people waiting at home for you The world is a better place with you in it Men’s Mental Health can easily be forgotten, but you won’t be if you’re gone.

A dim, blurry video shows a round reddish-brown object resting on a bed while increasingly earnest captions remind men that they matter and that people are waiting for them at home. The punchline is the final darkly worded line: men’s mental health may be forgotten, but their absence would not be, turning a sincere suicide-prevention message into bleak, emotionally manipulative humor. Pinegrove’s gentle indie-rock song “Need 2” gives the clip a melancholic, reflective mood and heightens the contrast between the comforting words and the grim implication.
