Now Let's See the Chinese Version
Disney’s new movie ‘Strange World’ features their first-ever openly gay teenage character. IMPRESSIVE, VERY NICE. NOW LET’S SEE THE CHINESE VERSION
A screenshot meme contrasts Disney’s announcement of an openly gay teenage character in Strange World with Patrick Bateman approvingly saying “Impressive, very nice,” before asking to see the Chinese version. The joke refers to censorship and the removal or alteration of LGBTQ+ representation in some international releases, especially China, and is used sarcastically to mock corporate diversity that may be softened for different markets.
