Spanish Peasant Lives in a Cave

1963 Spanish peasant: Tell me sir, what month is it? Francoist official: What do you mean what MONTH is it? Do you live in a cave? Spanish peasant: Percentage of Spanish population residing in caves (1963)

A screenshot-style meme shows a dialogue between a 1963 Spanish peasant and a Francoist official, followed by Walter White looking alarmed and a map captioned with the percentage of Spaniards living in caves. The joke is that the official uses “do you live in a cave?” as an insult, while the peasant’s reaction implies that many people actually did, highlighting rural poverty under Francoist Spain. It is sent as an absurd historical reaction to someone making an accidentally accurate insult.
