Metal Squares in Mouth Mystery

wtf are these metal squares that appear in my mouth from time to time question Okay so for the past year (my best guess, maybe year+) I every now and then find random small metal square(s)—they look like sprinkles sort of—in my mouth. Most often when I am brushing my teeth but other times too. My toothbrush is bamboo, so it's definitely not that. (My record for amount of these found back-to-back is nine lmao.) Sometimes when I think I have food stuck in my permanent retainer/mouth, it turns out to be one of these metal pieces. I tried Google but to no avail. My friends and I have deemed this oddity unexplainable. Everyone, including myself, thought my permanent retainer was responsible for these metal flakes, but, upon closer examination, that theory proved unlikely as the retainer really is just a wire and the bonding agent—no additional metal was found. Plus none of my friends with permanent retainers—actually a pretty good sample size—have encountered anything of this sort (or even went to the same orthodontist). Plus plus the metal of the squares is a different color than that of the retainer. If I had to estimate, I would say I've found about 30, 30+ of these squares in total.
