British Buddhist Complaints
How can I balance being British and practicing Buddhism? I ask this because to be British often means to moan and complain about things not going your way, which is the antithesis of Buddhism. I wouldn’t want to aggravate people by ‘boycotting’ this and appearing to be on some sort of high horse.
A Reddit post asks how to reconcile British habits of moaning and complaining with Buddhist principles of acceptance and calm. The joke is the self-aware contradiction: the writer worries that refusing to complain would itself make them seem aggravating and self-righteous.
