What Ruined YouTube

"Analysis" video of media I enjoy >look into detail >Plot summary Youtube gaming video essays 5 years ago >20-45 minutes of original thought about mechanics and story themes Youtube today >A "Retrospective" where someone reads a walkthrough for multiple hours with maybe 15 minutes of stolen TVtropes quotes for "Analysis" >Streamer's challenge run cut down into a youtube video so they double dip on twitch/youtube revenue >"Can you beat [Game] with [Weapon/Restriction]???" What ruined youtube? >11 hour Persona 4 retrospective >He just reads off everything every character says and does in the game

The meme contrasts thoughtful older YouTube gaming essays with modern videos that stretch walkthroughs, challenge runs, and copied TV Tropes material into excessively long “retrospectives.” The punchline is an absurdly long Persona 4 retrospective that simply reads every line and action from the game, mocking bloated, low-effort gaming analysis.
