Reading About Ethiopia Instead

Text on the meme

went out to drink with my girl coworkers and they were talking about how they like to be choked and slapped during sex then looked over at me to gauge my reaction and i was just reading the Ethiopia wikipedia page

What it means

A person sits at a bar or social gathering while his female coworkers discuss rough sexual preferences and look to him for a reaction. Instead of reacting, he is engrossed in reading Wikipedia’s Ethiopia page, creating an absurdly detached response to an unexpectedly sexual conversation. The meme is used as a reaction when someone appears deliberately uninterested or mentally escapes an awkward situation.
