Why Is This Called Castlevania?
I just don’t understand, 5 seasons in and we’re at the stage where there’s: >No Castlevania >No Dracula >No recognisable monsters >No recognisable locations >No music >No accurate versions of the characters >None of Dracula’s entourage (Báthory isn’t Bartley and that was NOT Death.) >No depictions of in game events or set pieces >No attempt to portray Christianity or God in a positive light So, I ask you, why the fuck is this called Castlevania? Why am I getting a history lesson about Black slavery and watching two dudes fuck whilst a teen girl lectures me about the patriarchy?
A greentext-style post complains that a five-season show called Castlevania contains almost none of the recognizable elements associated with the game series, instead focusing on slavery, a sexual relationship between two men, and commentary about patriarchy. The joke is an exaggerated fan rant mocking an adaptation for feeling unrelated to its supposed source material.
