Reverse-Paris Syndrome in England
Learning that there’s a reverse-Paris Syndrome (London syndrome?) where the Japanese travel to England, experience the charming mediocrity of the English banlieue, and are immediately enraptured by it 毎日見ていた部屋の 窓の外のファンシーな光景も残り数日になってしまって寂しい(>_<) It makes me sad that there are only a few days left of the fancy scenery outside my room window that I used to see every day (>_<)
A social media post jokes about a supposed reverse-Paris Syndrome in which Japanese visitors become enchanted by the ordinary suburban scenery of England. The attached translated Japanese post mourns having only a few days left to admire the view of brick houses, chimneys, fences, and gardens outside the room window. The punchline is the contrast between calling this modest English suburbia “fancy scenery” and the usual idea that visitors are disappointed by it.
