A fourth-grade child becomes obsessed with collecting pencil sharpeners, amassing about 70 of them and carrying them in a tiny bag. After the teacher restricts the child to bringing only one sharpener, the child makes a huge cardboard sharpener and gets sent to the office. The joke is the absurd escalation of a harmless school collection into increasingly ridiculous behavior, often shared as a nostalgic or self-deprecating reaction to an obsessive childhood hobby.
