Medieval Peasants Worked Less
>watching Medieval kino >peasants are breaking their backs the entire day working the fields Why are they lying like this? Peasants enjoyed considerable freedom and had 51% of days off. They would only work 4-6 hours a day.
A group of medieval peasants are bent over working in a freshly plowed field. The joke mocks an idealized claim about medieval peasants having lots of freedom and leisure by contrasting it with the visibly exhausting labor shown in the film. It is used as a sarcastic reaction to romanticized or historically dubious narratives about the Middle Ages.
