Ancient Chinese Business Cards
The business cards existed already in Han, called '谒' made of wood. Later known as '刺'. In Tang and Song, called '门状'&'手本', evolved into paper. Ming & Qing called '名刺' & '名帖'. They are used for self-introduction, pretty much like today! (pic is a Qing ivory card case!)
A humorous historical post shows two men in traditional Chinese clothing exchanging cards, alongside examples of an ancient Chinese card case. The joke is that business cards and self-introduction existed in China long before modern business cards, making the supposedly modern practice unexpectedly ancient.
