Religion as a Random DLC
Is it just me or does religion seem like a random DLC that isn’t even that good? For context I was just reading my history textbook and it’s talking about the rise of the papacy in Europe, and I was literally thinking “if this didn’t exist it would be the same but without more words” I know that religions have shaped history and all that but I still just feel like it was a free DLC that came with the game and it divided the game’s community into people that didn’t install it because they didn’t see any gameplay value being added and the people that did install it and love it more than anything else. Just random thoughts feel free to discuss.
A screenshot of a Reddit post comparing religion to a random, low-quality downloadable content pack for a video game. The poster is reading about the rise of the papacy and jokes that history would be mostly the same without religion, just with fewer words. The punchline comes from treating a major historical and cultural force as optional game content that divides the player community.
