The Forgotten Shmup Genre
GENRES Action Arcade & Rhythm Fighting & Martial Arts First-Person Shooter Hack & Slash Platformer & Runner Third-Person Shooter shmup
A video game genre list displays several familiar action categories, with “shmup” at the bottom humorously circled as if it were obscure or forgotten. The joke is that shoot ’em ups are a well-known genre, but the presentation treats the lowercase label as an overlooked option.
