Ballistic Weapons in Sci-Fi

I like Sci-Fi settings where the humans are still using ballistic weapons because the idea of 2 meter tall apes and psionic shapeshifters getting countered by grunts with basic M16s or twelve gauge shotguns is hilarious

A sci-fi soldier in camouflage aims a large machine gun inside a futuristic vehicle. The joke is that ordinary humans using familiar ballistic weapons can still defeat enormous apes and psychic shapeshifters, making the supposedly advanced setting absurdly funny.
